What changed for 2026

Texas redrew its congressional map in 2025. For District 6 that means:

  • 272 precincts → 244 (-28)
  • 9 counties → 5 — the county organizations this district works with.

No longer in this district:

  • Anderson County — held 22 precincts here in 2024
  • Cherokee County — held 25 precincts here in 2024
  • Freestone County — held 6 precincts here in 2024
  • Hill County — held 13 precincts here in 2024

Still here, but a different share:

  • Tarrant County — 54 precincts → 81 (+27)
  • Johnson County — 10 precincts → 23 (+13)
  • Dallas County — 53 precincts → 49 (-4)
  • Ellis County — 59 precincts → 61 (+2)

A county can stay in the district while the number of its precincts here changes substantially — which a simple list of counties would not show.

Most precincts kept their exact 2024 boundaries even where the district changed — the State House, Senate and Board of Education maps were not redrawn, so this is the congressional redraw rather than counties renumbering precincts. How this was measured.
