What changed for 2026

Texas redrew its congressional map in 2025. For District 4 that means:

  • 252 precincts → 250 (-2)
  • 12 counties → 7 — the county organizations this district works with.

No longer in this district:

  • Delta County — held 7 precincts here in 2024
  • Hopkins County — held 21 precincts here in 2024
  • Hunt County — held 5 precincts here in 2024
  • Rains County — held 8 precincts here in 2024
  • Rockwall County — held 26 precincts here in 2024

Still here, but a different share:

  • Collin County — 65 precincts → 101 (+36)
  • Red River County — 10 precincts → 22 (+12)
  • Denton County — 14 precincts → 23 (+9)
  • Bowie County — 12 precincts → 19 (+7)
  • Grayson County — 41 precincts → 42 (+1)

A county can stay in the district while the number of its precincts here changes substantially — which a simple list of counties would not show.

Most precincts kept their exact 2024 boundaries even where the district changed — the State House, Senate and Board of Education maps were not redrawn, so this is the congressional redraw rather than counties renumbering precincts. How this was measured.
