What changed for 2026

Texas redrew its congressional map in 2025. For District 21 that means:

  • 301 precincts → 299 (-2)
  • 10 counties → 9 — the county organizations this district works with.

No longer in this district:

  • Travis County — held 7 precincts here in 2024

Still here, but a different share:

  • Hays County — 50 precincts → 36 (-14)
  • Comal County — 29 precincts → 41 (+12)
  • Bexar County — 145 precincts → 152 (+7)

A county can stay in the district while the number of its precincts here changes substantially — which a simple list of counties would not show.

Most precincts kept their exact 2024 boundaries even where the district changed — the State House, Senate and Board of Education maps were not redrawn, so this is the congressional redraw rather than counties renumbering precincts. How this was measured.
